10 Reasons to Stop Judging Strong Women

As women, we often feel inferior or intimidated by strong women and that’s a huge mistake. Women with high levels of achievement, the ability to work a room, or an undeniable amount of self confidence can be a great resource for self development.

Instead seeing strong women as competitors see them as partners. Your ability to shift your perspective from one of envy or annoyance to one of learning, will give you the opportunity to discover how she got there!

Here are ten things that you can learn from embracing, not judging strong women.

10 Things You Can Learn from Embracing a Strong Woman

1. A strong woman will teach you courage.

‘Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.’ – Helen Keller

If you are able to stand strong in the face of danger or adversity, you probably have a strong supportive woman to thank at least in part for showing you what courage is. I spent my whole life being told was “too bold, brutally honest, and even too much”. Well, guess what? When I shrunk myself for the comfort of others I was crushed to a fraction of who I was before that experience. Today I’m bold, blunt and I’m not too much for the people that belong in my life.

If you have hard time being assertive or facing your fears, finding a strong woman to mentor you is a sure way to develop new habits!

2. A strong woman will teach you to love yourself.

‘It’s not your job to like me, it’s mine.’ – Byron Katie

Self-love is a skill that will take you far in your life. If you can love, respect and forgive yourself, you will attract partners, friends and even employees that do the same. Strong women love themselves unconditionally and don’t allow others to distract them from their goals. A success mindset can be learned. It took me a few months to develop the habits I learned and I can honestly say they have changed my life.

3. A strong woman will teach you to be independent.

‘I think the girl who is able to earn her own living and pay her own way should be as happy as anybody on Earth. The sense of independence and security is very sweet.’ – Susan B. Anthony

Strong women can do anything they set their minds to and if you believe that about yourself, you will too. A strong woman can help guide you through the process of creating realistic action plans to reach your goals. Learning to be independent and resourceful is a skill that will help you in every aspect of your life.

Many times women find themselves “stuck” in unhealthy relationships, friendships or even jobs because they lack independent skills and a positive self image.

4. A strong woman will teach you to choose kindness.

‘Kind words are short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.’ – Mother Teresa

Strong women don’t wage wars against those who offend them. They dust off and keep moving forward. They’ve mastered their emotional intelligence to a level of not reacting to information meant to harm them. Do you let the opinions of others affect your mood or the decisions you make? If you do, a strong women can help you learn to not allow others to influence you.

5. A strong woman will teach you how to trust your gut.

‘Never apologize for trusting your intuition. Your brain can play tricks, your heart can be blind, but your gut is always right.’ – Rachel Wolchin

Intuition is a gift that is often ignored or overlooked by women. Before my journey to self awareness, I ignored my inner sense and jumped head on into unhealthy relationships. Being a strong woman, I now stop and listen to my body. No matter how shiny the prize looks if my gut says no…it’s no.

Strong women are known for tapping into their intuition and making mindful decisions. If this is an area you struggle with, I highly recommend finding a strong woman to mentor you!

6. A strong woman will teach you to mentor others.

‘A woman is the full circle. Within her is the ability to create, nurture, and transform.’ – Diane Mariechild

When we rise up the next natural step is to help others on their journey. Everyone has a story that can help someone else. Think about a challenge you had to learn your way through, how could what you learned help another woman avoid or get through a similar experience?

If you reach out to another woman to help you conquer a goal or get through a tough time, you’ll be more likely to achieve your goal and help someone else do the same.

7. A strong woman will teach you to create happiness.

‘You grow up the day you have your first real laugh at yourself.’ – Ethel Barrymore

Strong women don’t need other people to provide them with happiness. They’re content, confident and focused on their goals. They see relationships, friendships and opportunities as an “addition to” not a requirement of their happiness.

8. A strong woman will teach you that emotions are powerful.

‘Never be ashamed of how you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion you want.’ – Demi Lovato

Feeling emotions is not a weakness. We all have them. They key is to use them as a strength by understanding your emotions instead of reacting. Strong women master their emotions and turn the ones seen as negative (sad, angry, anxious) into tools to solve problems and control situations.

As a former chronic overthinking reactive person, learning to pause and use my feelings for good feels like a super power!

9. A strong woman will teach you to have faith in yourself.

‘The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be, how much you can love, what you can accomplish, and what your potential is.’ – Anne Frank

When you surround yourself with strong women that have control over their emotions, minds and bodies you will naturally want to absorb their methods. When I left the negative circle I was part of I stopped complaining and started doing. I realized just how capable I was of creating a life that I truly loved.

Strong women want to see you succeed and welcome your success stories. There is no competition or resent from a confident woman. Making friends later in life can be a challenge but the positive side is you get to choose people that you belong with instead of feeling like you need to change to fit in.

10. A strong woman will teach you how to love unconditionally.

Strong women have embraced their flaws and work daily to improve their health and wellness. Their energy attracts other women at the same level of them and removes their insecurities towards others. They love themselves which makes loving others a natural occurrence.

When we remove our own insecurities strong women become people we want to know, not women we shun. I encourage you to find a strong women and ask her to be your mentor.

You’ll be surprised by how much she has to offer and how quickly your perspective and confidence changes for the better!
