The One Secret to Happiness That You Need to Know Now

I've always believed that happiness was waiting for me like a child playing hide and seek, I just had to find it. Yet, each time I found a new relationship, a better job, or attended an event, the anticipated joy was fleeting.

This pattern of counting from 1-10 with my eyes covered and heart pounding with anticipation taught me an invaluable lesson. Happiness is not something we find in someone else or in an experience, it’s something we create within ourselves.

Create your own happiness quotes

Life, in its profound impermanence, has shown me that attaching happiness to people or things is as self destructive as letting someone else choose your destiny. It’s like playing spin the bottle in middle school - you never know what you’re going to get!

The loss of my last relationship forced me into a journey of self discovery. That journey changed my pursuit of happiness from one of searching to one of creating. I longer base my happiness on who or what is in my life. Instead I protect it like the priceless creation it is.

When we create happiness from within, the challenges life throws our way become lessons instead of circumstances. Imagine how different your approach to life will be when you understand that happiness is not something anyone or any circumstance can take away from you.

How do you create your own happiness?

  • You decide you want to be happy.

  • You create a positive relationship with yourself.

  • You commit to becoming the best version of yourself.

  • You make time every day to show gratutide

  • You recognize and appreciate the small things in your every day life.

  • You make a conscious effort to protect your peace.

Creating happiness within yourself doesn’t mean life won’t throw you curve balls. But it does make them easier to catch. When you treat your happiness like a treasured friend, unexpected loss, failures, and heartaches become experiences and lessons instead of disasters.

You daily practice of choosing to be happy builds a resilience that makes handling difficult times more bearable. Internal happiness allows us to deal with struggles from a problem solving lens instead of a victim one.
